Delivering practical, science-based rehabilitation, closure planning and environmental management services for projects across Northern Australia.
Territory Environmental provides practical rehabilitation, closure and environmental monitoring services to support the long-term recovery and sustainable management of disturbed environments across Northern Australia.
We develop practical strategies that consider environmental conditions, regulatory requirements, project objectives and long-term monitoring needs. Our approach supports clients through rehabilitation planning, implementation, monitoring and verification, helping to manage environmental risks and demonstrate progress towards sustainable outcomes.
Development of practical rehabilitation strategies for disturbed land and environments, with consideration of site conditions, environmental risks, regulatory requirements and long-term objectives.
Environmental support for mine closure planning, including assessment of site conditions, environmental risks, closure requirements and information needed to support decommissioning and rehabilitation activities.
Development and implementation of environmental monitoring programs to track rehabilitation progress, environmental conditions and the effectiveness of rehabilitation measures over time.
Monitoring of revegetation and ecological recovery to assess rehabilitation progress and identify areas requiring further management or improvement.
Assessment and documentation of rehabilitation outcomes to provide evidence of progress, environmental performance and achievement of relevant rehabilitation objectives.
Support in establishing practical rehabilitation and closure criteria that can be monitored and assessed throughout the rehabilitation lifecycle.
Identification and assessment of environmental risks associated with disturbed, rehabilitated and post-closure environments, with practical management measures developed to support long-term outcomes.
Environmental data, monitoring information and technical reporting to support project sustainability objectives, regulatory requirements and communication with relevant stakeholders.
Effective rehabilitation begins with understanding the environmental conditions and risks associated with a site.
We begin by reviewing available information, historical investigations, environmental conditions and project requirements. This helps establish the key environmental risks, data gaps and rehabilitation objectives that need to be addressed.
We then develop practical rehabilitation and monitoring strategies suited to the site and project lifecycle. Monitoring programs can be used to track environmental conditions, assess rehabilitation progress and identify areas requiring further management.
The results are documented through clear technical reporting, providing clients with an evidence base for environmental management, regulatory reporting and ongoing closure planning.
Territory Environmental’s team has experience supporting rehabilitation, closure planning and environmental investigations associated with mining and other major projects across Northern Australia.
Members of the Territory Environmental team have previously supported Energy Resources Australia (ERA) with environmental investigations at the Ranger uranium mine near Jabiru, Northern Territory, as part of the site’s decommissioning program. The work included soil, surface water and groundwater assessments to support contaminated sites assessment and closure planning, including a detailed site investigation, Sampling and Analysis Quality Plan (SAQP), preliminary Conceptual Site Model (CSM), data gap assessment, sampling design, and establishment of data quality objectives and assessment criteria.
Additional groundwater monitoring bores were proposed to improve understanding of groundwater conditions across the site and support the ongoing assessment of environmental risks associated with closure activities. This work contributed to a better understanding of site conditions and informed environmental assessment and closure planning.
Territory Environmental’s capability includes developing practical rehabilitation strategies and environmental monitoring programs to support the recovery of disturbed land and ecosystems.
The approach is designed to support regulatory compliance, minimise environmental impacts and provide measurable information on rehabilitation progress and environmental performance.
Territory Environmental is a Darwin based environmental consultancy with experience supporting projects across Northern Australia.
Our team combines environmental assessment, field investigation, monitoring and technical reporting experience to provide practical advice throughout the project lifecycle.
We understand that rehabilitation and closure require more than a final assessment. Effective outcomes depend on understanding site conditions, managing environmental risks, monitoring progress and adapting management where required.
