Providing practical marine, coastal and offshore environmental assessment, monitoring and advisory services for projects across Northern Australia.
Territory Environmental provides marine, coastal and offshore environmental services to support projects across Northern Australia and surrounding marine environments.
Our experience includes marine and coastal environmental monitoring, water and sediment assessment, ecological studies and offshore environmental baseline investigations. Through established specialist partnerships, we can also integrate marine survey, oceanographic, acoustic, hydrographic, geophysical and marine fauna capabilities where projects require a broader technical scope.
Environmental monitoring programs to assess marine and coastal conditions, environmental performance and potential impacts associated with development and operational activities.
Baseline ecological investigations to establish existing environmental conditions and identify sensitive marine and coastal receptors before and during project development.
Collection and assessment of water and sediment samples to establish environmental conditions, monitor changes and support environmental management and compliance requirements.
Assessment and monitoring of coastal environments, including ecological indicators, shoreline environments, mangrove systems and other sensitive coastal receptors.
Through specialist capability and project partners, TE can support oceanographic and metocean monitoring programs incorporating currents, waves, tides and other environmental parameters.
Deployment and monitoring of oceanographic instruments, including Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCPs), to collect data that can support environmental assessment, engineering and marine modelling.
Partner supported underwater acoustic monitoring for baseline studies, environmental impact assessment, compliance monitoring and assessment of potential marine noise impacts.
Specialist marine fauna observation and monitoring, including marine mammal and other sensitive fauna monitoring, with mitigation and environmental compliance support where required.
Through specialist partners, TE can integrate hydrographic and geophysical survey capability including bathymetry, seabed mapping, sub-bottom profiling and geophysical investigations.
Specialist support for subsea infrastructure inspection, asset retirement, decommissioning monitoring and verification surveys through established project partners.
Marine and offshore projects often require multiple environmental datasets to be considered together.
We take an integrated approach to marine environmental programs, beginning with an understanding of the project objectives, environmental setting and key receptors. We then develop practical field investigation and monitoring requirements suited to the project.
Our work may include water and sediment sampling, ecological observations, environmental monitoring and data collection. Where specialist capability is required, we coordinate with established partners to integrate oceanographic, acoustic, hydrographic, geophysical or marine fauna services into the broader environmental program.
Collected information can then be integrated into environmental assessment, compliance monitoring, reporting and project decision making.
Territory Environmental and its project partners have experience supporting marine and coastal environmental programs across Northern Australia and other marine environments.
Julian Brown participated in an offshore environmental baseline survey for the proposed Bonaparte Carbon Capture and Storage Project in the Joseph Bonaparte Gulf, Northern Territory.
The program included water quality profiling and sampling, sediment quality investigations, benthic infauna sampling, epibenthic habitat and fauna assessment, offshore environmental monitoring, environmental data collection and technical reporting support.
The project demonstrates experience in multidisciplinary offshore environmental investigations and the collection of baseline information to support environmental assessment, approvals and project planning.
TE personnel were involved in long-term environmental monitoring associated with the INPEX Ichthys LNG Project within Darwin Harbour.
The program included marine and coastal environmental monitoring, water quality assessment, mangrove health and ecological condition surveys, environmental compliance monitoring, data collection and interpretation, reporting and environmental management support.
TE can also access specialist partner-supported capability across metocean monitoring, underwater acoustics, hydrographic and geophysical surveys and marine fauna monitoring.
Relevant project experience includes ADCP and oceanographic monitoring, integrated bathymetric and sub-bottom surveys, benthic habitat assessment, underwater noise monitoring and marine fauna observation and mitigation.
For projects requiring specialised marine and offshore services, Territory Environmental can coordinate with established technical partners to broaden project capability. This may include:
This partnership model allows TE to provide a locally based environmental delivery capability while bringing together specialist expertise suited to the requirements of each project.
Territory Environmental is a Darwin-based environmental consultancy with experience delivering marine, coastal and environmental services across Northern Australia.
Our team brings practical experience in marine environmental monitoring, water quality, sedimentation, ecological assessment and offshore environmental programs. We also understand the logistical and environmental requirements of working in remote and operational marine environments.
Where projects require specialist technical disciplines, TE can work with established partners to integrate additional marine survey and monitoring capabilities into a coordinated environmental program.
